Southend Business Partnership News

The next few weeks offer some great opportunities for you to benefit from free business support. The next Southend Business Partnership Briefing is taking place on 15th June 2017, with currently well over 100 bookings, so make sure you are booked to attend. We are delighted to host the event at the Park Inn Palace, located with views of the Thames Estuary. The BEST Growth Hub have an array of workshops over the next month, which are suitable for all types of businesses and industries. Details of the workshops and the briefing are available below.

Elsewhere in Southend-on-Sea you can enjoy the Classic Car Breakfast on 18th June along City Beach and there will be an opportunity to cruise along the Thames Estuary on the MV Balmoral. The Poppies: Wave at Barge Pier in Gunners Park, Shoeburyness, breath-taking sculpture is still open to the public for free, until the 25th June. Please visit www.visitsouthend.co.uk for more information on these and other events which are taking place throughout the summer. Fingers crossed for some more summer weather and less autumnal wind and rain!

Nominations for STARS 2017, Southend Council’s annual staff recognition event, are now being accepted. You can nominate on the Council’s website (www.southend.gov.uk/stars). There are 14 award categories, such as customer service, team of the year and valuing diversity, along with awards to recognise the Council’s values, aims and the Southend Way themes. The closing date for this year’s nominations is 31 July 2017.

As always, our Partnership is keen to hear from local businesses on what we could do to help your business grow. The recently formed Southend Digital Working Group has held its second meeting and looks set to be a catalyst for Southend to become recognised as a vibrant digital location. If you have a topic or issue that you would like to see us address at a business briefing or similar, then let us know by contacting the Economic Development Team on: 01702 215022 or email economicd@southend.gov.uk.

Don’t forget to follow the team on Twitter, Facebook and sign up to our Linked-In group for more information and business opportunities.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next Southend Business Partnership Briefing on 15th June 2017.
